Janine Lambers

Art and Design in Gold Leaf

Born in Germany, Janine Lambers was educated under the auspices of Germany’s guild system by way of a traditional three-year apprenticeship program. She apprenticed in Hamburg and graduated to become a professional gilder and restorer.

Restoration and reproduction of gilded frames and furniture has been her professional career for well over 15 years, during which she developed a deep understanding and reverence for the gilding craft and its use as an art form.

She resides in Beacon, New York, hometown of Dia, the largest contemporary art museum in the United States.
